Day Trips

Zen Oasis Shinjuku is walking distance to Shinjuku main railway station, allowing guests to easily travel outside Tokyo, including day trips to the famous onsen (hot springs) town of Hakone, or the old Imperial Capital at Kamakura.

Yokohama

Yokohama is Japan’s largest port, the second largest city in its own right, and a rich history as the originating point of Japan’s opening up to the world and modernisation. Notable sights include the Port Museuem, Chinatown, and the Nippon-maru and Hikawa-maru, a sail ship and an ocean liner respectively, preserved as living museums.

Tokyo Disney Resort

Tokyo Disney Resort comprises both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Located in Chiba prefecture next to Tokyo, it is easily reached by taking the Keiyo Line from Tokyo station to Maihama, which connects directly with the Disney Monorail. Tokyo Disneyland comprises seven themed areas based on Disney films and media, World Bazaar, Adventureland, Fantasyland, Westernland, Tomorrowland, Critter Country and Toon Town. DisneySea similarly has seven main areas, Mediterranean Harbor, American Waterfront, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, and Mysterious Island.”

Kamakura

Kamakura was Japan’s effective capital city after Minamoto Yoritomo appointed himself Shogun in 1185. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, it faces the ocean on the fourth. It is famous for the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, Kenchoji temple and the Great Buddha of Kamakura.

Hakone

Hakone is a famous hot springs resort town southwest of Tokyo. In addition to numerous hot springs, it is known for its cable car up to mount Komagatake, where you can enjoy eggs cooked in volcanic sulphur (said to be good for your health!), and for its iconic view across Lake Ashi towards Fuji.
